Xbox will present a special version of the XGP subscription to the Chinese market: Project Saluki

According to the foreign media, Windowscentral, Xbox’s new leader, Asha Sharma, suggested that the Microsoft game would place a strategic focus on the Chinese market. Informed sources revealed that Xbox would launch a special edition of the Xbox Game Pass subscription programme for the Chinese market.

The new Xbox Insider project, code-named Project Saluki, is a new Xbox Game Pass membership programme designed specifically for the Chinese market. Saluki is not a single XGP subscription service, but a number of member ratings and incentives adapted to the Chinese market environment and player preferences, the details of which are very little known.

It is worth mentioning that in 2014, when the game machine ban was lifted, the Microsoft national version of Xbox One came on the market on 29 September of the same year and became the primary host of a game sold on the mainland. Over the years since then, while the Xbox mainframe has been expanding in the national market, the XGP has never been formally online for mainframe compliance.

China is an extremely important market for large game companies, but it is difficult for Western producers to penetrate domestic markets. Microsoft has been doing a great deal of business in China through the blizzard, and has also established partnerships with giants in industries such as the Internet. The special edition of the XGP may be structured around a game that has already passed and may focus more on in-playing, etc.

In the traditional sense, the Chinese game market is dominated by mobile games, but in recent years, with Black Myth: The Goku opening the door to a world of 3As, China has grown faster than traditional Western markets. Some analysts predict that China is expected to surpass the United States by 2026 and become the world ‘ s largest game market.

This Xbox Insider update also refers to another project code-named “Positron”, which has been described by insiders as having a “Disc2Digital” feature. The reports suggest that the project may be related to the system of conversion of the physical Xbox game CD-ROM to a digital version. Similar ideas had been explored by Microsoft in the development of Xbox One, but disputes that had eventually been caused by such issues as second-hand play and ownership restrictions had been abandoned.

Windows Central speculates that Positron may have prepared for the next generation of Microsoft’s Xbox host, Project Helix. Following the roll-out of the fully digitized Xbox Series S mainframe in 2020 and the planned roll-out of the white version of the Xbox Series X mainframe in 2024, Microsoft has been promoting the development of the opticalless mainframe.
